Unmasked
In order to be beautiful, must it also be complex and unfathomable? In order to be profound must it also be beyond comprehension? Many times, we judge someone by the clothes they wear, by the accessories they have. And we don’t appreciate those that are simple, those who have taken off their masks. Maybe it’s because we’re afraid, afraid of the plain truth. We’re afraid of being stripped naked, of being found out for who we really are. That’s the reason we hide behind our words, our titles, our positions and our complexities. That’s the reason we hide behind our age, our maturity, our trophies and our victories. Because we don’t want anyone to ever get through. We’re afraid of anyone who can see our sorrows our failures, and our broken hearts. We talk like adults because we’re afraid of little children. We walk like strong men, because we’re afraid to stumble in the light.
