Simple Exercises for Busy People

We all want to keep fit. In times of economic difficulties, the more we realize how our health is indeed a great wealth to possess. But yes, I understand. We are busy people. We just don't have the time, do we? Plus, gym memberships are often so expensive nowadays they'd make our pockets sick long before they can make our bodies fit.

So what do we do? As always, WE DO WHAT WE CAN. Here are super easy exercises I suggest for super busy people like you and me.

1.Use the stairs. If you can't climb ten storeys towards your office floor, use an elevator initially, and then leave at least two floors for you to walk up the stairs.

2.Leave your car once in a while and ride the bus or train. It'll save you on fuel and gain for you some physical strength. If you can, you can also offer your seat to a woman or an elderly so you'd have more chance to practice your balance and strengthen your muscles.

3.If your work involves using the computer, you might consider moving your printer away from the computer you're using so you can at least get up and walk a few paces whenever you print something.

4.On days that you use your car, walk around the parking lot a bit before proceeding to your car.

5.Do some simple stretching and bending exercises while on your chair.

6.Offer help to officemates carrying a lot of files.

7.Organize the documents in your filing cabinets once in a while.

8.Try to get up and talk personally to people instead of always using your telephone. Your message may even be conveyed in that way more effectively.

9.Drink 8 glasses of water a day and go to the pantry if necessary whenever your mug becomes empty.

10.Carry around some reference books like a heavy Thesaurus, a Bible or a useful textbook related to your work. You'd have a handy source of knowledge while burning some extra calories carrying them. If you're the techie type of person, carry a laptop instead and you'd have instant access to your files.

These are just simple exercises that are readily-available to you as you work. They are habit-forming too and helps you start your year right, forming good habits to keep you fit. You'd be more aware of your body, your strength, your balance, and your need to move. So move, move, move! Even if you're super lazy, you've got to move somehow. Everything that's full of life moves.  ;-)
